Benjamin

Chapters featuring Ben:

Ben's history:

Ben is the only child of Elena's marriage to Greg Turner. Greg had to work hard to convince Elena to even want to have another child. While she was pregnant with Ben, Greg cheated on her. Elena didn't find out until after he was born, however, when he was almost a toddler.

A little before he became a toddler, Greg left his mom. He told her he didn't want Ben just to hurt her. So, Elena was left with a child, Ben, that she never really wanted in the first place.

Greg started to change his mind a few months after he divorced Elena, and decided he wanted to be in Ben's life after all. However, Elena and her first husband, John, started to get romantically involved again. At this point in his toddler life, Ben looked to both men as a father.

A man murdered Greg while Ben was still a toddler. He didn't understand why his mother took him to the cemetery frequently. He would just sit and play with a doll that used to belong to his much-older sister.

John and Elena remarried just before he became a child. Now he was, quite literally, the 'red-headed stepchild'.

John treated him as nicely as he could considering he hated his father, and Ben was the spitting image of Greg. As Ben aged to child the likeness to his father became more evident, and John unconsciously distanced himself from him.

Elena loves Ben very very much, but his likeness to his dead father tears at her heart. She never truly stopped loving Greg, but she couldn't ever trust him again after he cheated on her - twice (once again while they were dating after the divorce that Greg didn't see as cheating, but that's another story).

Feeling mostly left out, Ben plays more and more with the imaginary friend doll that Marie gave him. As a child, he treats the toy like it's real, further distancing himself from his family.

He's becoming a chip off the ol' block. Greg Turner isn't truly gone. Here's a quote from the upcoming chapter for him:

"I get the feeling he [Jonah] wasn't ready for this question judging from the look on his face. This makes me smile with glee that I must've caught him talking about something he shouldn't have. I love it when I can make grown-ups do stuff like that. All I have to do is look real sweet and they spill their guts."

 BOO!

I had to include this somewhere. I was testing a pose and I decided on the two of them. Makes me a tiny bit sad.
