16: Prom

(originally posted 9/30/2011)
Thursday

(Alrighty...this is going to be huge. I played alot yesterday. I'll prob break it up into sections.)

I have no idea why I'm wearing these particular clothes. Anyway, here's Xavier's bed. He and Marie are sharing a room since our house only has two. Marie acts like she doesn't really mind. I worried a little at first that when he got older this could be a problem, but John pointed out to me that by that time Marie would either be moving out or would be moving out shortly. Wow. It's so strange being the 'mom' of a teen. Well, he's a good baby and sleeps alot.

This is better. These clothes are more my style. I have a few days off from work. Then it's the weekend that I normally have off anyway, so it'll be a while before I have to go back to work! Right now, I'm making myself a cappuccino with a very expensive wedding present that we decided not to sell. We're getting better off financially. I'm getting paid leave and selling my fruits and veggies.

Prom is coming up, and Marie is so excited. That boy called her and wanted to know if she'd meet him at the bar.

They start dancing, and Marie looks over as I walk in. I hope she doesn't honestly think I'm going to leave her unchaperoned. They ignore me, and that's just fine. I hang out and play foosball with someone I've never met before..and now I can't remember who that is.

They're getting alot friendlier.

Then, he asks her to prom. I'm so glad. We stay out pretty late. For this, Marie is glad I am here so she couldn't be accused of staying out after curfew. I know, it's a school night. But she's young, and we plan on her taking a power nap.

That night, I hear Marie crying in her sleep as I go in to feed Xavier. She was having a nightmare about prom. She says everyone was dying and that the grim reaper was after HER next. Oh boy. Then she tells me to just leave her alone, that she'd get over it.

Friday

Friday morning dawns crisp and clear, as usual. I go out to work in the garden. Then I come back inside in to work out some.

That stupid maid just walks up to me with a smirk on her face, dumps the entire collection of dirty laundry right next to me, and then says, "Well, I'm done. That's it for me today!" Then, she leaves before I can say anything.

There are more pics for today, but I'll leave 'em out. (edit: putting 'em in anyway!!! muahahahaha!)

Basically, John gets a promotion to undercover specialist. Now he really gets to wear interesting things to work.

Then, we go to a party (ANOTHER swimsuit party with no pool), and I try in vain to get Jonah to successfully flirt with a really nice single woman. She doesn't act interested at all, and he bores her to death. I give up.

Marie has the same bad dream.
And Saturday dawns.

Saturday
Prom day! Marie and I start getting her ready. She acts annoyed with me most of the time. Well, I try. I give her some final advice and leave her at it.
(Incidentally, Betty has aged to elder already!)

I see Greg walking by my house on the way to the café. I haven't seen him in ages! I run outside to talk to him. He looks different; he's let his hair grow out some. It doesn't look like he's taking real good care of himself.

Greg: I just tried to go over to Betty's house and give her this gift. She slammed the door in my face. She's STILL mad about what happened with you. You'd think after a boyfriend and then a spouse, she'd get over it. Demarco just told me that he'd see me later.
Me: Oh, Greg, don't worry about her. She's crazy. Talk about holding a grudge.
Greg: I mostly hate how she brainwashes my son into hating me. I didn't think it mattered when he was young, but now I'd kinda like to spend more time with him. He doesn't want to come over like he used to when he was younger.

He looks so sad that I can't stand it.

Me: Oh Greg, I don't know what to tell you, but I'm sorry this is happening.
Greg: That's all you CAN say.
Me: I can't help but feel somewhat responsible.

Greg chuckles: Elena, we would've separated anyway with or without you. I couldn't stand her. Still can't. I don't know how Donnell puts up with her. Maybe that's why she needs Jean Luc there. Haha, Donnell siphons her off on Jean Luc. They're so weird. How are you anyway?

Me: I had the baby. A boy. We named him Xavier. John is thrilled.
Greg: And you? How are you doing?
Me: I'm tired. I tried helping Marie get ready for prom today, and she all but threw me out of her bedroom. She even offered to watch the baby, since they share a room now, just to keep me out of there.
Greg laughs: Marie sounds like a very independent young lady. I'm glad that she offers to help with Xavier, though. I worry about you having to deal with too much. I'd offer to help myself...but I don't think John would like me being here.
Me: Hum, I wonder if he'd even notice.
Greg: What?
Me: Well, right now he's upstairs meditating.
Greg: But that means he's keeping his anger under control.
Me: Except he hardly notices when anything goes on. Xavier crying is the only thing that brings him around, and I don't like it when he cries, so that's not often.
Greg: He's ignoring you?
Me: Well, not so much that as.... um... well, I don't want to think of it as ignoring me; just that he's in his own world.
Greg looks at me doubtfully: Elena, you know you can still call on me if you need anything.
I look at him, a little confused: I know.

There's a pause as we stare at one another for a minute.

Me: So, um, how are you and, oh what's her name, Ami doing?
Greg: She dumped me.
Me: What?

Greg blushed a little bit. Cute.

Greg: I called her..... your name ..... one time when we were making out.

My heart starts hammering in my chest. What is WITH me lately?

Me: You did WHAT?
Greg: Yeah. I know. Crazy. Er...well, I need to get going.
Me: Uh, okay. See you.

He waves and walks across the square to the bookstore.

(long bit w/o pics...I gotta plan better haha)

This evening, Andy comes to pick up Marie. His brother Dawson comes along too. I guess Dawson couldn't get a date.
(It bugs me that they're still in their regular clothes)(I use MC to change Andy's clothes as they're walking out the door and he vanishes. I may have to resetsim. He turns up in the pic at least.)

Marie comes home all dreamy-eyed. She and Andy were inseparable it seems. Also, she was named prom queen! Wow! I didn't know she had made so many friends so fast. She and Andy are going steady now.

  1. Hubby doing his own thing... maid taking advantage... daughter doesn't need her ... and Greg walks in and her heart stammers... scene is ripe for an affair... I hope she thinks before she acts while feeling bad for herself.

    1. That maid actually did just walk up and dump those clothes there. I was like WHAT?! b*tch, I don't think so!

Yeah, Elena feels really bummed out and not needed by anyone. That combined with Greg's obvious continued attraction to her and her to him... yeah. Dangerous territory here.
